Private wood-fired sauna

A wood-fired sauna of your own, shared with no one.

Poldergeluk, Pauline & Rob’s holiday home in Nieuwe Niedorp, comes with a sauna that is yours alone. You fire it up yourself with wood, whenever it suits you. No spa, no time slots, no other guests: just heat, fresh air and time.

An illustrated impression. Photos of the sauna are coming soon.

An evening

How an evening with the sauna goes.

There’s no schedule. Just an order that falls into place by itself.

  1. Lighting the fire

You light the wood, and then you wait. Which is just right: time to clear the table outside, or sit in the garden a little longer.

  2. Slowly warming

The heat builds quietly. The wood ticks and crackles; otherwise it’s still.

  3. Outside

Between rounds you cool off in the open air, in your own garden, with the line of trees behind you.

  4. Afterglow

A blanket, a glass of water, light in the windows. And nothing you have to do tomorrow, either.

What makes it special

Your own fire, your own time.

Because the sauna comes with the house, it fits around your day. After an afternoon on the bike, after a walk on the beach, or not until it’s dark: you choose the moment, and how long you stay in.

The wood fire is what makes it special. You’re part of it: keeping the fire going, feeling when it’s warm enough. It takes a little more time, and that’s exactly what helps you unwind.

Everything you need to get started is in the welcome folder.

Part of your stay

The sauna comes with the house.

You don’t book a sauna session, you book Poldergeluk: a holiday home for 2 to 4 guests with two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a private garden with a terrace and covered seating. The sauna simply comes with it.

The cottage is on a small holiday park in Nieuwe Niedorp, in the north of North Holland. Behind the garden a green line of trees begins, with a sheep meadow and a canal beyond.
